About The Role:
As a Science Teacher at this welcoming Peterborough secondary school, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and effective science lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11). You will play a crucial role in fostering curiosity, developing scientific understanding, and preparing students for their GCSEs and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering outstanding Science lessons to students from Year 7 to Year 11, ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Assessing, monitoring, recording, and reporting on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of assigned pupils.
- Creating a positive, stimulating, and challenging learning environment that inspires and motivates students in scientific inquiry.
- Utilising a variety of teaching methods and practical experiments to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Science curriculum.
- Participating in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and attainment.
- Fostering strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
- A relevant Science degree or a degree with a significant Science component.
- Proven experience teaching Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11) in a UK secondary school.
- A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Science. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Passion for your subject and a genuine desire to inspire students.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
