Responsibilities:
- Support the SENDCo with the day-to-day management of SEND provision.
- Deputise for the SENDCo during periods of absence.Liaise with and advise colleagues on SEND strategies.
- Coordinate and oversee provision for students with SEND.
- Maintain relevant reports, records, and progress monitoring.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Track and monitor the progress of students with SEND.
- Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, medical services, and social services.
- Oversee and monitor the Special Educational Needs Register alongside the SENDCo.
- Represent the school in meetings with external agencies and local authorities.
- Support the delivery and oversight of alternative curriculums for SEND students.
- Assist students with complex medical conditions as required.
- Develop and sustain the school’s Enhanced Provision for students with additional needs.
- Lead curriculum planning and oversee student progress within Enhanced Provision.
- Collaborate with the Head of English and SENDCo to implement the school’s Reading Strategy.
- Line manage Teaching Assistants, including performance reviews and attendance meetings.
- Plan and implement Access Arrangements for students.
- Teach Key Skills and Enhanced Provision lessons.
Requirements:
- Experience working with SEND students in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to support and develop staff.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to liaise effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies.
- Experience with curriculum planning for SEND and alternative provisions.
- A passion for inclusive education and helping all students achieve their full potential.
